The Goal
Entry Two
So this element of the blog, in my heart, is the most important, but also the part I find the most daunting. I don’t feel smart enough, or “spiritual enough,” or equipped enough to offer some type of little devotional or Spiritual content – but if I can be so bold to say – I feel called to offer something much deeper than simply a “lifestyle” blog.
If you’re a lifestyle blogger or someone who really enjoys those blogs – please don’t mishear me. I have nothing against a good peek into someone’s lifestyle and gathering some inspiration for my own home and life. I really enjoy finding those blogs and seeing how other people are doing life – that’s why there is an element of that to this blog.
BUT, for me, for this, it’s not enough. For me, without Jesus, a lifestyle-only blog would feel empty and purposeless.
There’s a quote on the homepage of this blog (as I’m currently writing this anyway) that I came across a while ago, “The goal of parenthood isn’t to create perfect kids. It’s to point our kids to the Perfect God.” In a season of trying to create the perfect homeschool routine, and a perfect Instagram account, and a perfect bible reading plan, and a perfect meal plan, and a perfect activities plan, it made me stop and refocus.
Not only is “perfect” generally subjective in regard to lifestyle…it’s also pretty impossible to attain. So I want to re-centre my life and all its bits and pieces to focus myself and my family on the One who is already perfect.
We may not do the cutest “perfect” crafts and activities. We may fail over and over as we learn how to do school at home. We may not have picture “perfect” bookshelves. We may not have a “perfectly” clean and tidy home at the drop of a hat. We may not even “perfectly” love each other all the time. And every time I just wrote “may not” read “do not.”
But if I can point my kids toward The Perfect One. If they learn how much He loves them; how much He desires a relationship with them; how worthy He is of all our praise and adoration; then my goal of parenting will have been achieved.
I realize that not all my readers will sync with this post. Maybe some of you are rolling your eyes and wishing it was a recipe post, a funny kid story post, or something different if I was hoping to engage you with this blog. But aside from Entry One being just a brief introduction of me, I knew that my first real post needed to be all about this. This blog is going to be a bit of fun and entertainment. It’s going to be a peek into our life and our kitchen. But my goal for this blog is that it all points to Jesus – even in the posts that may not mention his name.
So if you’re still here, and willing to stick with me, I can’t wait to share our journey with you.
